Dear Mingde,

1. In America we have a Social Studies projects for our GT students, we also have to do book reports 2 times a year, we make posters for things we learn about, and we do Science experiments and write about them.

3. We know that Taiwan and China are different because they are different countries. We think you speak a different language in Taiwan than in China.

4. At our school you can come to school early but only students who are in before care can. Before Care is a place for students to go when their parents have to go to work before school starts. There are people who come and take care of you before school starts. During this time you can play on the playground, play in the gym, play things you have brought from home, etc.

5. We have an MSA Reading, Math, and Science. This is a state test. We also take quarterly reading assessments. They are county tests. We also take a Fitness Gram, weekly spelling test, music tests, and other subjects.

We have spelling, math, and language arts. Every Friday we have no homework.

6. Some of us do CRAM for tests but others of us study hard many days before tests are assigned.

7. My very excellent mother just served us nine pizzas for the planets in order from the sun. Does McDonald serve cheeseburgers - Division, Multiplication, Subtraction, Check and Bring down.
Never Eat Soggy Waffles - North, East, South, West

1. Sometimes we have GT math projects for extra credit. We sometimes make posters in language arts and health. We are working on a book report right now.

3. We think that Taiwan has different calligraphy. We think they are both separate China's but they speak a different language.

4. Before Care at our school starts at 7 and we begin school at 9:10. Students come whenever their parents drop them off during those times. Our school starts much later than other schools in our county.

5. Yes! We just had a language arts assessment today! We also have math, spelling, science and social studies tests. We also have PE fitness grams twice a year. We sometimes have music tests.

We have a lot of homework! We have spelling and math homework every day. Sometimes we have science and social studies homework. There is also a Pointer Fit calendar for PE. We usually don't have homework on the weekend unless it is for a project.

6. Some of us don't study at all, some of us cram, and some of us study for several days before a test.

7. Math - Does McDonald's Sell Cheese Burgers - Divide Multiply, Subtract Check Bring Down - Long Division

Planets in order - My Very Excellent Mother Just served us Nachos.

Metric System - King Henry Dances Merrily on Christmas Morning

8. Space Notes - FACE only on treble cleft notes

Hello Dear Friends!
We have answered to Question 1

2. I know that in America students don't have to buy the textbooks.
What do you think?(Daphne)
Is that the same in Italy and Australia?
Dear Daphne,
in Italy we usually have a printed textbook for every subject we teach; in addition we may have a ‘practice or work book’ so the students can develop and foster their abilities and skills. Now the situation is changing due to the implementation of ICT multimedia resources; according a recent law Italian school will soon use e-books that families will be able to download to reduced costs. Using electronic media is and will be a very important and interesting challenge for everyone, students, teachers, parents. Do you agree?

3. Do you think Taiwan and China are the same?(Ryan)
Ciao Ryan!
My students of Grade 4B have the opportunity to listen news about China and about Taiwan. Our pupil Zhang Yi, for example, is a very precious resource student for us because she can share what she knows about China, alphabet, chants, style of communication; she will come back to China soon and she will bring us some typical object. We are very happy to be in touch also with a school of languages in Hebei – Likou; we are glad to meet them. On the other hand, our student Eleonora tell us about Taiwan because her father travel to your country and she is happy to share interesting news. I think that China and Taiwan are both part of the great Yellow Nation of the Planet Earth. Even they have different names and territories they have a similar origin; they are like two beautiful flowers, each one has its own Beauty, its own special scent.

4. I know that in America students can go to school very early (about 7:30 am)before the class starts(about 9:00 am).
What do you think? (Teresa)
Is that the same in Italy and Australia?
Hi Teresa!
In Italy, for familiar reasons pupils can arrive at school at 07.30 pm – remaining under the caretakers’ responsibility. Classes usually start between 08.00 and 08.30.

5. Do you have a lot of tests? We have a lot of homework. Do you have a lot of homework?(Gary Lu)
Ciao Gary Lu!
We have at least two tests (verifiche in Italian) and even more for each subject and for each of the two terms (September – January; February – June).

6. Do you study a lot or go to cram school after school? (Gary Chou)
Hi, Gary Chou! Italian primary school students like to study and they come to school with pleasure. At their age they don’t need to attend cram school. Often they like to practice sports, to learn a musical instrument, to dance; some of them study ICT and computers.

7. I know that we use some mnemonic aids when we learn different subjects.
For example, in America students use "Please excuse my dear aunt Sally, Roy G Biv."
Can you tell me more different mnemonic aids? (Daphne)
8. What is your mnemonic aids for the music notes in order?(Brian)

Hi Daphne and Brian!
I don’t use mnemonic aids during the lessons. I will ask my colleagues about.

9. Why do you have Normal time and full time in Italy?(Ling)
Ciao Ling!
This is an opportunity for families; it depends on their needs, their rhythms, their life stiles. They can choose ‘full time’ for example if the parents work the whole day, or because they think that their children will benefit from an extended learning schedule (40 hours per week); if the parents have time and want to spend the afternoon with their children they choose ‘normal time’ (28 hours per week). ‘Full Time’ school system is very important and much appreciated by Italian families.

Thank you so much for your questions!
