What we have been up to.(3C by the sea, Australia)

We do lots of projects in Australia too.
At the moment, some of us are learning about Space. We had a night school on Thursday. There was an inflatble planetarium. We had to crawl down a long dark tunnel to get inside. Inside it was very dark. The man showed us how the earth spins around and how the sun shines on part of the world, whilst the other half of the world is in darkness. He also showed us lots of star constellations. Our favourite was the Scorpian.

For our project, we have been making presentations about different planets, including the earth and how the sky changes. We have then been sharing them with each other by putting them on our Blogs. We are also going to be teaching the Year Ones what we have learnt. We have been writing scripts and making resources to help us teach them about Space.

To answer some more of your questions:
We have to buy our own text books in Australia.

Some of us get to school early (7.00am) but go to 'Before School Care'. School starts at 8.40am.

We will send you some more answers soon.

Dear 3C by the Sea,
Did the planetarium come to your school or did you have to travel to it? What ages are year one students?
The planetarium sounds cool. Do you have any photos to share? What else did you do with the planetarium?

Dear 3C by the Sea,

What time was the planetarium at night? How long did it last? Was it like a field trip? Was it nice to look at the sky?

The planetarium came to our school. It was in the hall. We took turns with the other classes to go inside and learn about the planets, day and night and star constellations. After that, we looked through a real telescope on the oval. It was about 7pm when we looked through the telescope.

In grade 3 we are turning 8 years old and in grade 1, the children are turning 6. We love sharing our learning.

We kids in the USA are learning about space too! We had to do presentations as well. We had a project where we made poster on space, went to the board, and had to say stuff about space books we read. We also are making movies on windows movie maker on space too, and it is really cool and exciting. We recorded our voice, made pictures, and are going to make something like powerpoints with them. It is really cool.
