Thank you so much for sharing your school lunch with us
At our School we have lunch five days a week from 12.40 to 1.20 pm, then students have a recess time to rest or doing particular Laboratory Activities from 1.30 to 2.30 pm.
Various cookers and auxiliary personnel prepare and serve meals that come from an external cuisine. The quality of the food is very good; it varies several times; we have 25 different kinds of menus, a cycle of 5 menus X 5 weeks.
The school menus are decided by an expert of the Municipality and Local Office.
Our lunch at school is very healthy!
Usually we eat pasta, rice, soupes, various kinds of meat and fish, many kinds of vegetables and fruit, yogurts. We drink water.
A special THANKS to the Muslim students and Parents: various times in the year a wonderful Cous Cous is prepared and served to the teachers.
Yummy!
In the pictures, another very special moment.
Last year in Spring we welcomed a Tibetan Representative, Ven. Geshe Lobsang Sherab and Stefania from Rome. We spent the school morning together in a Circle of Brotherhood and Peace.
Then we had lunch together at our Canteen.
Thank You for Your Precious Attention.
!!!PEACE!!!

Hi San Filippo:
The content of your school lunch is rich.
When you eat different food, you also experience a different culture.
I'm interested in your chous chous. Is Chous chous only for teachers? I think it is great if students can taste it.
What do you think?
We look forward to your reply. Thanks!
PS: Sorry Andrea! I repost your post cuz I did some adjustment on this blog.
what kind of soup do you eat? cous cous looks great!
Thanks Ling and Dear Students at "Mingde" Elementary!
Eating Cous Cous at school is a blessing of brotherhood and peace rising from the local Muslim Community. Mothers of our pupils coming from Maghreb area prepare this meal in sign of goodwill generally twice a year at "San Filippo". I'm here as a teacher since last year so I hope it is a kind of tradition :-)))
It is only for teachers because the dish isn't prepared by the usual company that has contract and authorization to cook the meals for the students. Months ago anyway I read an article on the local newspaper reporting that it is our local Autorities' intention to proceed towards more and more multicultural and healthy menus. Let's see!
As you have said, tasting food coming from various Communities is a way to appreciate the Richness and the Beauty of our Planet.
Ciao!
To Brian Chen and Mates!
Hi Brian, Hi Everyone!
Thanks for appreciating. Yes Cous Cous look and is really tasty!
It can be prepared with or without meat - fish.
Did you know? A very important tradition from Maghreb is that when people eat Cous Cous - I think it is also for other meals - they sit in circle round one only big plate and they take the food from this plate with their hands.
Since in Europe and in the Western World, we generally use cutlery, I think this is a very special tradition with a particular kind of Communitarian Energy.
At our School we can eat vegetable soups with pasta, rice or other cereals; we call 'passato di verdura' a soup where the vegetables are milled so that you can't see any part of the original vegetables but only a tasty cream.
Ciao and thanks for sharing your School Lunch with us :-))

Yes as a teacher I really like Cous Cous and I prefer it without meat. Why don't you do a research in Taiwan pubs or restaurant to see if Cous Cous is served anywhere?
Grazie, Ni Hao!
Andrea
Thanks for appreciating our intercultural lunch, Teresa!
Cous Cous is not so salty, believe me.
Yes we eat rice and we like it very much because it gives us a lot of energy; we eat rice with vegetables or cheese...

Hello Bryan and Hello Emily!
Thanks for appreciating our school food. At our school canteen you can taste different kind of menus: the 'regular' for the majority of students, the 'ethnic' one for muslim students and the 'vegetarian' one.
As a teacher I think the quality of the food we eat at school is very good. The last special dish we tasted a few days ago was boiled pears with cocoa cream: AH!
In general, our students like tasty dishes, like pizza or ravioli; they don't like vegetables much...
Tell us what are your favourites!
